Laura Di Cicco
Laura Di Cicco is an actor, writer, singer and producer. Her experience as an actor ranges from the classical, including commedia dell’arte and Shakespeare, to contemporary repertoire. For over 20 years she has worked professionally in theatre, television and radio both in Ontario and BC. Laura is currently the Artistic and Managing Director for Fugue Theatre a company that produces original operettas and musical works with imaginative interpretations. As an instructor, Laura has taught at the Shadbolt since 1998.

Darcey Johnson
Darcey became a professional theatre artist in 1999 and in 2005 dedicated himself to the sketch comedy troupe Assaulted Fish. Before being “caught in the net” of Vancouver’s premiere sketch troupe, he ran his own theatre company, and toured as a performer and manager all over North America. Now, Darcey continues writing, performing and building a popular teaching practice at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts as well as Arts Umbrella.

Jeremy van den Driesen
Since the early 90's Jeremy has pursued an acting career both in Film & TV and stage. Having competed in many speech & drama competitions and continues to work as a working actor. In 1992 he was awarded the Jean Campbell Trophy for the performer with the highest score in the Speech & Drama category of the Coquitlam District Music Festival. Having also received a distinction in the Performance Certificate of Trinity/Guildhall's programme of examinations, Jeremy continues to teach and has found it very rewarding and enjoyable teaching children at Shadbolt.

Sharon Heath
Sharon’s teaching began directly after graduation from The National Theatre School of Canada in 1987 and has continued ever since. She teaches from a trained theatre and improvisational background with the specialty of working with 7 – 12 year olds building and rehearsing short scripts for presentation. She has also taught stand-up comedy, clown, improvisation, Shakespeare text, scene and monologue study, acting for camera, auditioning and directing. With 20 years of experience she has an excellent balance of leadership and guidance that helps to maintain a confident and creative work space for both adults and children.

Kirstn Hawson
Kirstn trained at the prestigious Central School Of Speech & Drama in London England where her education was sponsored by Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir John Gielgud and Felicity Kendall. As an actor she has performed in numerous productions for television, film, radio and the stage. As an instructor she has taught singing, acting and speech arts to students with diverse needs from all around the world. In London, Kirstn spent 5 years teaching singing and acting to underprivileged inner city youth from recently immigrated families. More recently and closer to home, she has taught students of all ages Arts Umbrella, the Sarah McLachlan Music outreach program and at Riley Park, Britannia and Mount Pleasant Community Centres.

Catriona (Cat) Main
Cat Main is happy to have been teaching at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts since January 2009. She also teaches at Arts Umbrella and does theatre workshops for Theatre la Seizieme and the Purple Thistle. Cat is a graduate of the Studio 58 Acting Program and has worked with a variety of theatre companies in town as an actor and creator, as well as doing voice acting for cartoons.

Jacqueline Cheng
Originally from Calgary, Jacqueline is a recent graduate of UBC in Political Science and Psychology. She has ARCT teacher certification in Speech Arts through the Royal Conservatory and has won several 1st place awards in local Speech and Drama Competitions. Jacqueline currently teaches Speech and Drama at the Shadbolt Centre and at Place des Arts in Coquitlam to children of all ages and is pursuing a career as an environmental lawyer.

Christina Nicolaou
Christina is an actor, singer and writer. She has acted in various stage productions across Canada, the U.S. and Europe as well as on television and film. She has also created and performed two solo shows. She is a graduate of the University of Washington with a Master of Fine Arts in Acting. She also holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from McMaster University.

Theatre Terrific brings together artists that would normally never have the opportunity to work, create and perform together through our professional and community productions, workshops and classes. Our diverse inclusive ensemble practice includes professional and emerging artists with or without developmental, physical, or mental health issues, gender and language challenges.
Theatre Terrific productions tell stories that explore the real, surreal, humorous, mythic and dramatic journey of life, and our place in the world. Influences include Beckett, Tim Burton, Aeschylus, Kafka, Joseph Campbell, Shakespeare, and the art of life itself.

Bard on the Beach
This Summer, Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival brings its immensely popular Young Shakespeareans workshops to Burnaby. Led by professional theatre artists from the company, this course offers creative journeys through Shakespeare’s language and stories while exploring acting, voice and movement for the stage.
