Pre-school Theatre Programs

Creative Drama: 4-5 Years  
   Young children's imaginations are stimulated and structure is given to creative play through poetry, stories and simple props. Along the way, they develop listening skills and build self-confidence. Enrol more than once as each drama class is different and skills are strengthened. Note that a child must be four years old by the first class. Instructor: Darcey Johnson (SA)

Exploring Speech & Drama  
   An opportunity for young children to develop their creativity and voice for better speech and oral communication. Singing develops breath and voice control. Mime and movement boosts self-confidence and stimulates imagination while improvisation and role-play builds healthy self-esteem. Instructors: Jackie Cheng (Th), Lyndsay Anderson (W)

 

Children’s Theatre Programs

  Creative Drama  6-8 yrs  
   Nurture your child's creative imagination in this lively class. Through creative drama games, exercises and stories of their own creation or from other sources, dramas can be explored, acted out and enjoyed. Structure may be given to these developing dramas through such tools as simple props, costumes and music. Children build self-confidence, cultivate self-expression and develop group building and listening skills. Students are encouraged to enrol more than once. They must be in Grade 1 for the 1.5-hour classes. Instructor: Ruth McIntosh 

 Drama Adventures 7 to 9 years  
   Through drama games and theatre exercises, children venture into play that can be explored, acted out and enjoyed. Structure is given to these developing dramas through simple props, costumes and music. Self-confidence is nurtured and self-expression cultivated. Group building and cooperation are encouraged. Children should enrol more than once for this class. Instructors: Ruth McIntosh (Th, Sa 9:30am), Darcey Johnson (Sa 12:30pm)

 Drama One  
   Future performance skills are developed through group building, sensory awareness, movement and vocal enhancement. Drama games, improvisation, character work and stories help give young students confidence in self-expression. Instructors: Ruth McIntosh (Th) Darcey Johnson (Sa)

 Speech & Drama  
   This class helps develop clear articulation and expressive use of students' voices for performance and presentation. Confidence in public speaking is developed in a fun and challenging way. Students have the opportunity to take part in recitals, exams and festivals. Classes are either one-hour group lessons (maximum 5 students) or half-hour private lessons.  Theatre Improv - Just for the Fun of It  
   Young actors develop improvisational skills through games exercises and scenarios. Focusing on character and conflicts, comedic or dramatic situations arise to create a scenario. Highly interactive, creative and fun, this course to build self-confidence and spontaneity. Instructor: Ruth McIntosh
