The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performs its annual free outdoor concert showcasing the beauty of Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park. The crowd will be pleased with the program of light classics and popular favourites.
Come early, bring a blanket and a picnic basket, and settle in for a wonderful evening with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Just a reminder that parking in the vicinity is limited, so alternate transportation is recommended.
DEER LAKE AVE. TRAFFIC CONTROL ADVISORY
To promote public safety and reduce traffic gridlock, the Burnaby RCMP will implement the following traffic plan:
From 5:00 to 7:00pm, Deer Lake Ave. will be closed to eastbound traffic between Deer Lake Parkway and Sperling Ave.
Bus service will continue in both directions during this time.
Traffic coming onto Deer Lake Ave. will enter at Canada Way and Deer Lake Ave. (by the Burnaby Village Museum) and proceed west with the option to exit at either Century Park Way or Deer Lake Parkway .
From 9:30 to 11:00pm, event traffic will be permitted ONLY westbound on Deer Lake Ave between Sperling and Century Park Way to allow for pickup of patrons.
During this window, bus service will be also interrupted on Deer Lake Ave. and riders will have to walk north to Canada Way bus stops. Translink will post “interruption of service” notices on Deer Lake Ave. bus stops.
All Deer Lake Ave. residents and resident visitors will be granted access during road closure. Residents should be prepared to produce a driver's license or quote an address if visiting for a special function.
City bylaw officers will be patrolling the precinct and Sperling Ave., Deer Lake Beach area etc. on concert day.
DROPOFF/PICKUPZONE: This will be designated in the angled parking stalls on the north side of Deer Lake Ave. directly across from the North Lot at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
SPARC PERMIT PARKING – SPARC permit parking (handicapped) will be available in Shadbolt North Lot as space permits.
