Burnaby Village Museum and the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts offer unique opportunities for filming within the natural setting of Deer Lake. Both these facilities are available for exterior filming and interior scenes.
Burnaby Village Museum offers a fenced 10-acre site depicting a typical 1920s tram stop village. The location includes a heritage estate home, a log cabin, one-room school, bank, farmhouse, working blacksmith and print shops, a Chinese herbalist, a chapel, and a general store. Adjacent to the village is an indoor restored 1912 carousel, and large grassy meadow. This venue is perfect for a western village or a period town. The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is an award-winning, multi-purpose arts facility located in Burnaby's picturesque Deer Lake Park. The facility includes a large atrium overlooking the lake, 6 dance studios, a 285-seat theatre, a 150-seat studio theatre, music rehearsal rooms, a scene shop, pottery studios and kilns, an art store, and a café. The centre is also the production and support centre for the 10,000-seat outdoor amphitheatre located on the edge of Deer Lake.
